Hello, My Dr prescribed Topiramate for a headache I get once a month. !st week I took 1 pill before bed. 2nd week increased to 1 pill after breakfast & 1 @ bedtime. I immediately started feeling dizzy & off balance. Stayed on for 5 days I could nt hardly function- It was over the weekend so, I went down to 1 pill just @ bedtime for Sat, Sun. Mon I called & left message with my symptoms I still took 1 pill Mon eve. Call back from Dr on Tues & said to stop them. I have not felt right since & it s been 5 days. Still get dizzy when I walk around & drive. Don t feel to bad sitting. My question is- Does it take a while for this drug to get out of your system ??

Hello!

Welcome and thank you for asking on HCM!

Regarding your concern, I would explain that your symptoms seem to be related to topiramate adverse effects.

It is true that after stopping the drug, it may take up to a couple of weeks for these adverse effects to disappear.

So, relax and don't worry about it! I would just recommend taking plenty of fluids during these days.

Hope to have been helpful!

Kind regards,

Dr. Iliri
