Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi, I just noticed that I have been experiencing mild to medium dizzy spells that last for about 2 hours after eating peanuts (salted and unsalted, both). What could be causing this? I don t have peanut allergies and I have been consuming peanuts for a good 22 years now without any allergic symptoms.
Since you do not have any allergy to peanuts, dizziness 2 hours after consuming them can be related to your blood sugar levels. You have not mentioned any co-existing diseases like diabetes or hypertension. Peanuts have high oil content and can raise blood sugar quickly. Hence, I would suggest you to check your blood sugar levels both fasting and postprandial levels. Peanuts have a high glycemic index and the consumption should be limited in diabetic patients.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Saranya Ramadoss, General & Family Physician
