What Causes Dizzy Spells When Having Vitamin Deficiency?
I HAD GASTRIC BYPASS IN MAY 2006 AND HAVE HAD TO TAKE VITAMIN SUPPLEMENTS. A YEAR AND 1/2 AGO I WENT IN FOR CHECK UP WITH GEN MED DOC AND ASKED TO HAVE MY BLOOD WORK DONE AND FOUND I WAS DEFICIANT IN B-12 AND HAD TO TAKE INJECTIONS ONCE A WEEK. THAT PRESCRIPTION WAS FOR 6 MONTHS. NOW A YEAR LATER (AND POSSIBLY NOTHING TO DO WITH THE ABOVE) I AM HAVING DIZZY SPELLS. ONE RATHER BAD ONE WHILE SITTING IN A CHAIR A COUPLE DAYS AGO AND ONE THIS MORNING WHILE SITTING AT MY DESK WORKING. I ALWAYS WORRY ABOUT NEUROLOGICAL PROBLEMS DUE TO VITAMIN DIFFICIENCIES....??? You should get your B12 checked again. Once you have the deficiency, if it's related to the gastric bypass, it will continue to reoccur after you've been off the shots awhile. Gastric bypass can also result in other changes in the vitamins and salts in the blood. This can cause dizziness as well. I'd recommend you get a follow up with your doctor and have a blood panel done, including vitamin levels, and see if this might be the problem. Hope this helps.
