What Causes Dizzy Spells?

Hi, For the past couple of weeks I have been experiencing dizzy spells every time I stand from sitting. These are sometimes so severe that I need to hold on to something to prevent me from collapsing. I have recently lost 6 and a half stone following a healthy eating and exercise plan. I eat 1500 calories per day and exercise regularly. Please advise as to why I may be experiencing these dizzy spells. Thank you

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

It is possible that there is a decrease in blood pressure on standing.

This is called orthostatic hypotension. This can be confirmed by a blood pressure in the sitting and then in the standing position.

There are different possible causes for orthostatic hypotension.

With your history of intentional weight loss, it is possible that it is related to not using enough fluids to maintain the blood pressure.

You can try increasing your fluid intake and also try to move from the sitting to standing position slowly.

I hope this helps
