General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,
i can understand your concern.
Your son is having signs of dehydration- dry and cracked lips. Skin turgor is present which means dehydration is not severe. Give him plenty of fluids to drink.
If the child appears dull and lethargic and is not active, kindly take him immediately to a hospital so that i.v fluids can be started immediately.
Severe dehydration if not corrected on time can lead to kidney damage.

Hand foot and mouth disease is a viral condition with no specific cure and providing adequate nutrition and fluids is the key in managing the disease. Kindly ensure your child is taking enough fluids.

Hope i have answered your query.
Thanks for choosing HCM. Wishing your son a speedy recovery
