Hey, i woke up this morning and i found that one corner of my lip was drooping down, the past two days i felt something funny on the opposite side of my mouth but i just thought that it might be getting chapped because it is now winter....what do you think this is?
As per your complain the most common cause of unilateral drooping of one side of the lip can be due to facial nerve palsy which can occurs due to either trauma, inflammation or viral d to it can cause infection of the facial nerve that is a seventh cranial nerve and supplies muscles of face. Any disorder related to it can cause paralysis of the affected side.. As it has just started you can consult a NeuroPhysician and get evaluated and in case if facial nerve problem is suspected an MRI can help in confirming the cause and the physician can advise you to take steroids, vitamin B-complex supplements and cold compresses on the affected side for faster recovery.. If there is viral infection anti-viral medication like Acyclovir can be given..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards.. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
