What Causes Drop Attacks And Memory Loss?

Hi, and thanks for being there. This past Thurs. night I had an I ve fallen & I can t get up, incident twice. The second was right after the first one, during which I was on the floor for 1.5 hrs. trying to get up. As soon as I did, I went right back down & that was the time it took me 1 hr. to get up. I have a history of a variety of problems including the old lady ones (incontinence.) I could barely get to my bed when I got up after the 2nd time. I have NO recollection of how/why I was on the floor. I just was. It did not occur to me until yesterday that I needed to consider TIA related advice, so I had a friend come over & she told me she didn t want me to drive myself there but she cannot take me until Tues. I admit that I did drive either Thurs. or Fri. ------& wasn t real good at it, put the car in PARK while driving down a busy street which certainly caused a commotion for instance, but I have no earthly idea why I did it. What should I do now? This is Xmas Eve. I really don t know what to do but want you to know that my sister had a full fledged stroke at the age of 36, so that is one reason I am concerned. What to do?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Yes, possibility of TIA (transient ischemic attack) is more likely in your case. So better to consult neurologist and get done blood pressure monitoring, ecg, 2d echo, MRI brain and EEG (electro encephalo gram). If all these are normal then no need to worry much. Avoid stress and tension, be relax and calm. Don't worry, you will be alright.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
