What Causes Drop In Heart Rate While Exercising After Taking Atenolol?
I am taking atenolol and I noticed my heart rate drops considerably during exercise versus when I don t take it. Almost 30 beats or so lower. The question I have is that I noticed when my heart rate is in the 140 plus range when not taking the medication I burn a lot more calories according to the hear monitor I wear. When I take the medication the calorie burn is lower. Is this accurate and I am I still getting a good cardio work out when taking the medication?

Some medicine for high blood pressure like Beta blocker i.e. Atenolol gives rise to bradycardia i.e. decreasing heart rate.
So consult your doctor and discuss about this.
If he thinks proper he might change the medicine.
