What Causes Drop In Oxygen Levels On Exertion Along With Tightness In Chest?
My Name is Ben a 73yr old Male I have had a hard time breathing all of my life. May chest only expands 2 inches. My normal o2 level is 94 or 95. with execise my o2 level drops to 84 or below. My lungs are long for my size and they have to reposition the exray machine every time they try to see my lungs. When I inhale it feels like my chest is to tight for adequit breathing. With any exertion I have a hard time getting enough o2 and it take time for me to feel like I am getting adequite o2. I have some alergies that affect my breathing that i take benedrill for.
I appreciate your concern and thanks to post your problem in HCM. Whether you had long time habit of smoking or occupational exposure of any typical substance or allergen has not been mentioned in your history. Considering your age the elasticity of the ling volume will be reduced. But still you should be able to get enough oxygen to maintain your O2 level. It should be in the range of 97-98%. Anyways you should visit a physician to find out the specific pathology of your lung. He may prescribe you some bronchodilators that will dilate your airways and helps to maintain good oxygen level. Meanwhile avoid polluted atmosphere, walk daily in the morning over green grass, Perform Yoga exercise. Yoga will definitely improve your breathing and lung volume capacity and make you feel fresh and happy.
Hope this will help you.
