What Causes Dry And Patchy Rashes All Over The Body Of A Child?

A Cambodian boy, 6, has this skin problem for about a year. The parents has brought him to village doctors and children hospital and was told to find another doctor to treat his skin problem. I was told today, there are only two patches of dried infected skins over his body, one on the shoulder and the other on his hand. There are no itchiness or pain whatsoever. The infected skin patch on his shoulder is getting slimmer as you could see the shape of the bone. We are not sure what he is suffering from and we seek your advice and help. I have photos taken for your viewing. Thank you and God bless!

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

It could be an eczema. Consult a dermatologist and get evaluated. As a first line management, you can apply low potency steroid creams like Betamethasone for symptomatic relief. If the lesion persists, it is better to consult a dermatologist and get evaluated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain,
