Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Dry And Scaly Rashes All Over The Body?
My husband has a severe dry, scaly rash all over his body, and he s prescribed Morphine 15 s. He s prescribed 9 of them daily. He s been on Morphine for almost 10 years now. Up until about a year and a half ago he only was prescribed 90 milligrams daily. Then we found out he had stage 4 throat cancer, and his doctors put him on nine 15 milligrams daily. He s been cancer free for almost a year now, but he s still prescribed the nine 15s a day. My question is, could he be having an allergic reaction to the amount of Morphine in his system, and also the amount of time he s been prescribed Morphine?
The Morphine is not likely the cause of his rash since he has been using it for such a long period of time. An allergic reaction would have been expected early up when he would have first started using this medication. If the rash is not itchy- then it is not likely allergic in nature.
It would be best for him to be assessed by his doctor to find the cause of his rash, a dermatologist would be an option if his doctor is not sure of the exact cause.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
