Hi,I am Dr. Santosh Kondekar (Pediatrician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
hi my 5 year old sons bottom lip has become very dry and chapped, when he woke up this morning there was a yellowish crust on it which i wiped away with water and cotton wool, he is also complaining of pain on his top teeth when brushing, despite being at the dentist a week ago and everything being fine. Any suggestions for this? many thanks
I have gone through your question and understand your concerns but don't worry. The dry chapped lips, yellowish crust and painful gums in your child seems to be due to vitamin deficiency. Most likely it's due to riboflavin or vitamin C deficiency.
So, I would recommend you to start him on vitamin B complex and vitamin c supplements. Foods rich in vitamin B 2 or riboflavin are: Beef liver., Lamb , Milk ,Natural yogurt, Mushrooms, Spinach, Almonds, Sun-dried tomatoes, etc.
