What Causes Dry Cough After An Open Heart Surgery?

My spouse had open heart surgery to replace an aortic bicuspid valve and an aneurysmal root repair. He d developed a postbox dry cough. Lungs are clear not really bringing anything up if he does it is clear. It s been 2 weeks tomorrow from surgery? This is the only thing bothering home? What can this be? He has no edema or fluid retention either.

Post cardiac surgery dry cough has some common differentials... fluid retention or fluid overload post operative. Lack of respiratory physiotherapy after surgery. Or missed doses of Diuretics prescribed to you.And if with fever pneumonia is not uncommon post cardiac surgery.
