What Causes Dry Cough And Burning Sensation In The Throat And Chest?

I had a sinus infection last week, dr recommended me take antibiotics and mucinex. which I have done.. I am coughing a lot, sounds like it is breaking up in my chest in the mornings but not producing any phlegm, however by lunch time or so its a dry cough that burns my throat and chest.. should I be concerned?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi
Thanks for posting your query on HCM
I have read and understood your concern
Respiratory infections may be of viral or bacteria origin. If of viral origin, symptomatic treatment will be enough. However, if your Doctor prescribed antibiotics, it means he had arguments in favour of bacteria infection.Since symptoms are persisting,i will advise you see the Doctor for reevaluation and if need be, a change of antibiotic may be considered. In the meantime, i will suggest you:
-Continue with mucinex
-Take an antihistamine like benadryl
-A steroid like prednisolone
-Avoid respiratory irritants like dust, cold and smoke
Hope this will help. You may write back if more concerns.
Best regards
