What Causes Dry Cough, Stomach Pain And Headache In A 9 Year Old Boy?

My 9 year old woke feeling crummy with a mild fever (99) and complaining of a headache and has been dry coughing for past several hours. Most recent temp is (100.3) His stomach also aches, though has eaten toast and fruit without any reaction. When he closes his eyes, he feels he is about to flip over - so vertigo? He is so rarely ill so is very uncomfortable and worried. I recently gave him 325 mg of acetaminophen. Anything i should be concerned about?

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of dry cough, stomach pain and headache in a 9 year old boy which seems to be due to chest infection/ chronic upper respiratory tract infection. The symptoms can also occur due to conditiok like acid reflux .I would suggest you to do warm saline gargles. You should take cough expectorants. You should take muscle relaxant as well and take food in small and frequent intervals rather taking it in large amount at a time. You should take antibiotic Levofloxacin in combination with antiallergic medication. Visit pediatrician once and get it examined. You should get chest X-ray done and start treatment after proper diagnosis have been made. Avoid oily and sharp food. Drink plenty of fluids. Eat light and non spicy.
