What Causes Dry Cough While Suffering From Diabetes?
Hi doctor , my mother is a diabetic patient. From last 3 4 months she is having dry cough.thn our doc diagnose it as nimonia. He treated well. Bt her wbc count was 14. Aftr the dose of antibiotics it reduces to 10. Bt thereafter she got urine infection with pus cell 3-4 . Then again a course of antibiotics was given which results into recovery. But now again aftr 15 days her wbc count is 14 and urine infection with pus cell 10- 12..in between our doc recommend her to consume tb medicine even her mountex test was negative twice.m really confused. It is TB or something else. Our doc is unable to diagnose it and is saying it can b hidden TB. Kindly suggest.m really worried
Negative mantoux test makes TB unlikely. A chest X-ray and sputum sample can also be done to make sure that it is not TB, these would also show if it is another bacterial infection.
Some medications can also cause a dry cough. ACE inhibitors are a type of medication that diabetics commonly use to protect the kidneys and help with blood pressure.
They cause a dry cough, check to see if she is using one of these. Post nasal drip of mucus (sometimes undetected), is also a very common reason.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
