What Causes Dry Flakes Like Patches Between Left Leg And Vagina?
Hi okay so about a week ago there was a dry flakey patch near my vagina, like right next to the fold between my left leg and vagina. It wasn t that big but it was itchy and flakey, and I itched it (stupidly) and then the flesh felt kind of stingy and like there was new, raw skin there. Is this normal? It s also summer so maybe it s some sort of chafing? I m not sure, I m just wondering if it s not normal or if I should get it checked out...
Hello and welcome to HCM, Patch of dry flaky skin between vagina and thigh could be due to psoriasis. Psoriasis is a dermatoses characteristic by dry flaky skin. However, the lesions of psoriasis do not itch thus other possibilities have also to be looked for. Thus, I suggest you to consult a dermatologist for clinical assessment of the lesion. A biopsy from the affected skin may also be required to examine the skin microscopically and thus make a diagnosis. Management can be planned after clinical assessment and investigations only.
Thanks and take care Dr Shailja Puri
