What Causes Dry Itchy Flaky Skin Around The Arms, Lower Back And Chest?

I have been experiencing extremely dry and flaking skin around my waist, upper arms, lower back, and chest area, it rarely itches and there is no pain. I am currently experimenting with sensitive skin laundry detergents and using coconut oil and sugar scrubs. This has been a trial and error process with hit or miss success. I would welcome any ideas or suggestions for remedies and also what is causing this malady. Thanks.

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of dry itchy flaky skin around the arms, lower back and chest. Well symptoms you mention in query can occur due to allergic reaction due to detergent, soap , fragrance , chemical, metal, an animal bite, or an insect sting, it could be due to infection of hair follicle and lyme disease. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to consult dermatologist for proper examination. Doctor may prescribe antihistamine , corticosteroid ointment and may give adrenaline short . For now take benadryl twice a day , apply cold compresses and avoid any cosmetic product. Avoid touching or picking rash. Maintain complete hygiene.
