Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am a 59 year old female with a very dry mouth and gas. I haven t had a yearly physical with my physician recently. Most people are annoyed with my bad breath. It doesn t improve with regular oral hygiene. I used to take a number of supplements such as fish oil, magnesium, vitamin c and cinnamon. I no longer use the supplements because I cannot afford them. I hope to reenter the work force in the months ahead. How can I make a favorable impression and what should I use to prevent bad breath?
Gastritis can result in abdominal bloating and also result in bad breath sometimes. Dry mouth can be due to various reasons due to some medications like antihypertensives and anticholinergic medication which can, in turn, result in an increase in certain microflora in the mouth resulting in an increased incidence of caries which may also result in bad breath. I would suggest you get a subgingival scaling done. And to sip in water in large quantities daily. And a mouthwash like ChlorHex can be used daily before going to bed.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Shilpi Sharma
