What Causes Dry Mouth And Chest Pain While Taking Venlafaxine?
Took 2aday 20mg prednisone for 7 days for an allergic reaction to a medication for hot/cold flashes from hysterectomy. Now my doctor has me on venlafaxine er 37.5mg. Right now I can t sleep and have dry mouth. I also have some kind of center chest pain that comes and goes. Tired all the time and a weird taste in my mouth that won t go away. What do u think this is from. Help
I can understand your concern. All the symptoms you are experiencing including dry mouth, unusual taste in mouth, lack of sleep, abdominal discomfort and chest pain related to it are due to the side effects of antidepressant Venlafaxine you are taking.
The antidepressants always have side effects, but the benefits from the medicine must be outweighing the side effects of the drugs so your doctor must have prescribed it. In addition, if you have just started the medicine, you might be experiencing these side effects. Your body may get used to the medicine after taking it for about a month and you may notice decrease in side effects or total disappearance.
However, if the side effects are too troublesome and compromising with the quality of your life, then you should consult the prescribing doctor again for dose adjustment or change in the medicine.
I hope this information helps you. Thank you for choosing HealthcareMagic. I wish you feel better soon.
Best, Dr. Viraj Shah
