What Causes Dry Mouth And Eyes While Suffering From IBS?

I am 70 years old and have ibs with constipation and for a few days my mouth eyes and throat seem vey dry. I am taking medications: Colace, senna and miralax as directed and drink at least 8 cups of water a day and eat plenty fiber and still have trouble going to the bathroom. Is there something else wrong?

Hi,

Well, your symptoms are looking typically that of Sjogren's Syndrome that has typical symptoms of dryness in eyes and mouth. However too much-dehydrated state of the body can also be a cause.

So my suggestion is to drink sufficient water throughout the day. You can chew sugarfree chewing gum and use artificial saliva drops to ease the dry mouth.

Such lemon drops. For dry eyes use artificial tear drops that you can buy from local Pharmacy. If these remedies do not ease the symptoms consult a physician and get evaluated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
