What Causes Dry Mouth And Swallowing Difficulty?

I have a severe dry mouth in the morning and moderate dry mouth and difficulty swallowing throughout the day. I'm having to drink 2 to 3 glasses of water when I wake up because I have such a dry mouth and am thirsty. What could be the reason and what can I do to eliminate the problems.

As per your complain Dry Mouth also known as Xerostomia is caused by a large number of reasons out of which a few common are like:
Dehydration.

3.Oral infections like Oral Thrush or Candidiasis..
4.Nerve damage supplying Salivary Glands..
5.Salivary gland diseases and damage or surgical removal of Salivary Glands..
6.Autoimmune diseases of Salivary Glands like Sjogrens Syndrome and other diseases like Diabetes,,HIV etc..

You should consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated for the underlying cause of Dry mouth as correct diagnosis of the cause and treatment of the same can improve the symptoms..
For symptomatic relief:
1.SALIVA SUBSTITUTES containing Methyl Cellulose should be instilled multiple times in mouth which are known as Artificial Saliva can help in lubrication of mouth..
2.SALIVA STIMULANTS like lemon drops, sugar free gums and sour candies can be taken many times a day as it helps in stimulating salivary glands to produce more saliva..
3.In certain cases like Sjogrens Syndrome Pilocarpine drug is given as it has a secretory actions over glands and it helps on improving saliva flow..
Drink plenty of water and try to prevent stress..
