Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Dry Mouth, blood In Stool And Mild Memory Loss After Suffering From A Stroke?
my mother has had a stroke in the past and i think she may have had a mini stroke recently. she looks like she has aged 10 years and she has dry mouth, difficulty swallowing, very painful bowel movements with a lot of bleeding, difficulty pronouncing some words and trouble remembering what shes talking about and dry itchy skin.
All the symptoms you mentioned suggest a diagnosis of Hypothyroidism ( dry mouth, dry skin, constipation, difficulty concentrating, difficulty in memory). This is one of the possilities. Your doctor should check your mom for this disorder, which is very easily tested. Via a blood test which checks for several hormone levels in the blood.
The memory loss could be a symptom of hypothyroidism, but also from the stroke/mini stroke itself.
Is there hypothyroidism in your family history?
