What Causes Dry Painful Sore On The Neck?
Hello I am a 45 year old male, I have recently noticed a finger tip sized dry painful sore on my neck which looks like a scab with rough dry skin. If I exfoliate the area or try to remove the surface dry area it becomes red and tender. I don t have any others on my body and it does not seem to be infected. Any ideas? Thanks.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have dry painful sore on the neck . Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like muscle spasm , cervical spondylosis, viral pharyngitis , lymphadenopathy , nerve compression , ear infection or heart problem like angina . For now stay calm , take ibuprofen , apply warm compresses to shoulder and arm , do light stretching exercises under expert or acetaminophen for pain and take proper rest. For now eat light and soft , sleep in correct posture and try to reduce your stress level , as such pain can also occur due to stress .I would suggest you to consult orthopedic surgeon for proper examination and treatment . Doctor may order CT scan , MRI along with nerve conduction test and physical examination to confirm the diagnosis . Doctor may prescribe muscle relaxant , anti inflammatory , nerve supplement along with physical therapy . In some cases doctor may recommend surgery .
