Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have a dry patch on my lip that looks like a healing or healed cold sore, However, I never had a cold sore there. It was what I thought was try skin and I pulled the skin off and now it will not heal. It never oozed or was open and never had any pus. But, if you didn t know that it was never a cold sore there...you might think that it was.
I will try to the best of my ability to help you with your concern.
The symptoms you mention in query are clearly indicating condition called chapped lip . The most common reason for chapped lip is licking and picking of lips ,which remove the natural thin layer of moisture and make the surface of lip dry and scaly . The other reasons are hormonal changes , stress and extreme weather specially dry weather .
I would suggest you to :-
- Stop licking and picking of lips .
- Apply lip balm with SPF 15 to prevent them form dryness and from damage due to sun exposure .
