Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have these red, slightly rough dry patches of skin on both my cheeks. They've been in the same spot for months now and at times are more noticeable. I know I should see a dermatologist but im curious what it could be. Theres no other areas on my body like that and lotion isn't helping. Any ideas wouod be appreciated, thanx.Bret
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice. As per your complain red, dry and rough skin over cheeks can be due to very dry weather causing skin dryness and inflammation while it can also be due to conditions like atopic dermatitis, eczema, psoriasis, contact dermatitis etc.
I would suggest you to consult a Dermatologist and get evaluated and he can advise you to get investigated like blood tests to rule out the exact cause of the problem and treat you accordingly.
As of now you can apply thick coat of aloe vera gel or petroleum jelly over the cheeks. Do cool compresses. Avoid using any harsh chemical cosmetics on face. Maintain a good facial hygiene. Limit sun exposure and exposure to dry cold air.
Hope this information helps. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Thanks and regards, Dr. Honey Nandwani Arora
