What Causes Dry Skin And Hair Loss While On Levothyroxine For Hypothyroidism?
I am 34 yrs. old, 5' 4 ", 135 lbs. I've been taking Levothyroxine .025 mcg for at least a year now and no followups on my hypothyroidism. I've gained about 10-12 lbs in less than a year and I was wondering if it's possible that my dosage is no longer enough. Also, feeling cold a lot and dry skin problems are getting bad and losing more hair than normal when I wash my hair and then again when combing it.
Hi dear user I have gone through your question. I can understand your concern.
Weight gain, feeling cold, hairloss and dry skin are symptons of hypothyroidism. I suggest to talk with your doctor because you need to do the thyroid tests TSH,T3 and T4 and to adjust the dose of Levothyroxine. In my opinion you need to increase the dose of levothyroxine and after that you will feel much better.
Hope I have answered your question. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help. Thank you for using HCM. Wish you good health.
