I've been having issues with extreme exhaustion, even after waking up after a full night's sleep. I just feel super tired and it takes a great deal of effort to get out of bed. I also feel depressed and have strong feelings of worthlessness, often with no reason or trigger. I get cold and hot easily and lately have been feeling dizzy whenever I stand up. My mom has a thyroid problem and I'm starting to wonder if I have one too. Other symptoms include: dry skin, irregular periods (I'm on birth control now, but before it wouldn't be unusual to get my period once every three months - and I've been tested for high testosterone and am within normal limits), trouble falling asleep even when I'm tired, dry eyes and achy muscles when I wake up in the morning, seasonal allergies when I never used to get them as a child.
Could I have a thyroid problem? Or is it simply depression? Are there things I could record over a period of time that would help determine what my problem is (I know my mom wrote down all she ate as well as recorded her temperature in the morning right after waking)? I'm a bit hesitant to go to a doctor if it could be nothing...
(FYI, I'm a 25 year old female)
