What Causes Dry,flacky Patches On Nails, dandruff And Low Vision?
Hi.My fingernails have white spots on them and my toenails have white areas on them. My toenails, when rubbed over, flake. I have lumps of dandruff, mostly in the middle of the back of my head. And a flakey spot at my widows peek. These spots itch and when scratched, they bleed. My distance vision is getting worse, to the point I wear my glasses all of the time for distance, but am not in need for up close vision. I am a 45 year old female.
I would keep a possibility of leukonychia of nails which is usually due to trauma of the nail ned/nail matirix. They would resolve as the nail grows and require no intervention.
White flaky areas and lumps on the scalp along with itching and bleeding on scratching is most likely due to Seborrhoetc dermatitis of the scalp with secondary folliculitis(bacterial infection).
I usually advice my patients to use an antidandruff shampoo thrice weekly. Ketoconazole based shampoo, is an antidandruff shampoo which is available OTC and can be tried.
I would have also advised a week of oral antibiotic for the lumps/secondary bacterial infection.
I would advice that you seek an ophthalmologist consultation regarding your eyesight.
take care regards
