Hi. I am currently in a homosexual relationship that has been healthy for the past three years. This is only my second sexual partner, and we are both only sexual with each other. We engaged in anal sex frequently and used petroleum jelly as our main lubrication, without problems for the past 3 years. About two months ago, I used a numbing cream prior to the petroleum jelly just to try it out. The week following the intercourse, I noticed that my anus was unusually itchy and dry feeling. I used baby wipes to keep the area very clean, and cleaned it well in the shower for hygiene. The problem got worse. I ended up going to the doctor about a month later and a swab test was taken for a bacterial infection. They found staph and strep bacteria and gave me antibiotics. I used the full regimen, things kind of got better, but nothing magical. I also stopped using the baby wipes, switched with all natural witch hazel wipes with no alcohol, and washed the area with only water and witch hazel, no fragrances soaps. The problem persists, and so I started using pure aloe Vera on the area and the itching has significantly decreased when used often, as well as the soreness. So recently, I ve tried to engage in intercourse again, but every time, it feels as though there is increased sensitivity like tearing around my anus when attempting penetration. This has never been a problem before, and was wondering what I could use to heal the skin.
