What Causes Dryness And Skin Peeling Inside The Mouth?
I have post chemo induced peripheral neuropathy and rheumatoid arthritis. I have episodes of excessive drying of the inside of my mouth and a breakdown of the skin in my mouth. My pharmacist feels that none of my medications would result in these problems. It can became so severe that I have severe burning in my mouth. I experience such dry mouth it makes it difficult to talk or swallow,
Peeling of mucosa inside mouth us most probably due to dry mouth.. It can be a side effect of chemotherapy that might have caused damage to the salivary glands.. Other causes of dry mouth can be -Severe dehydration, -Side effects of medications if you take any. -Salivary gland dysfunction. -Nerve damage supplying salivary glands. -Oral infections like thrush.. -Sjogren's Syndrome..etc..
Consult your Physician and get evaluated. As of now to reduce dry mouth you can chew sugarfree chewing gums.. -Drink plenty of water. -Avoid regular mouthwash and use specialized mouthwash that are formulated for dry mouth patients like Biotene.. -You can also instil artificial saliva drops and mouth lubricants like Oral Gel.
Hope this helps..
Regards.
