What Causes Dryness And Swelling In The Throat While On Adderall?

I was recently put on 30mg adderall once a day for being back in school I ve currently been taking it for 2 weeks now and for about the last three day my throats been super dry, almost like I m having to gulp when I swallow, and my taste buds on the back of my tongue and down my throat are all swollen and Im having really bad acid-reflect. Is this something I need to see my Dr about or is the swelling from a mixture of dry mouth and acid?

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of dryness and swelling in the throat while on Adderall ,which seems to be due to lower of immunity because of upper respiratory tract infection. Side effects of certain medicine as you mention in query can also cause such symptoms. I would suggest you to do gargles with warm saline rinses and take combination of decongestants and multivitamin tablet. You should avoid touching eyes, nose again and again. Drink plenty of fluids. Take proper course of antibiotics along with anti-inflammatory medications. Your symptoms will resolve in 5-7 days. If your symptoms keeps on persisting the visit ENT specialist once and get complete examination done. You should get blood and throat swab tests done. Start treatment after complete examination. You should take throat lozenges.
