What Causes Dull Sternum Pain After Taking Nexium Tablet?

Hi, Thank you. I have been taking Nexium in the morning by my doctor s request. I am fine all day, after eating breakfast (cheerios, juice), Lunch*( a sandwich), but after a heavier meal in the evening around 6:00 pm. I experience a heaviness, dull aching right near the tip of my sternum, around an hour or as much as two hours later. I go to bed, finally fall asleep and get up in the morning feeling fine again, until the cycle continues again. In the beginning, about a year ago, the Nexium seemed to work. Now, I m afraid to eat dinner. What is going on?

Hello dear Greetings
Regarding your experience with dull sternum pain with easy full with evening meal I am suggesting the following differential diagnosis

Oesophageal stenosis/spasm
Peptic ulcer disease
Incomplete pylori stenosis

In view of this please do the following test
Barium swallow
Barium meal
Endoscopy

Moreover please see a gastroenterologist specialist with the results and for further expect clinical assessment and adequate drug prescription

Seemingly you can can continue with your nexium and please add antacids suspension with it

I hope this helps Regards
