What Causes E Coli Infection After A Hysterectomy?

hi after haveing a hysterectomy i became very ill i was re-admitted five days after discharge to hospital with e coli and was given iv antibiotics for over 48 hours then discharged with oral cefalexin once well enough.they also found a colection of blood on one side that i was told would disperse. i have not been offerred another ultrasound to check this will happen. should i have?i was aso given a blood transfusion. is the infection likely to clear fully or is there a chance that it can linger on?
