What Causes Ear Discharge In A Child?

Hi my one year old has had a crusty orange discharge from his ear for the past two days. No temperature, runny nose and a little bit irritable but that is all. He is a fully breastfed baby. The discharge does not have any signs of blood nor does it have a foul smell. Should I see my doctor?

Hi...Thank you for consulting in Health Care magic. It could be a sign of ear infection - either otitis externa or otitis media if there was any fever. But you say there is no fever or any systemic manifestations and the discharge is orange colored and crusty. I think it is only a normal cerumen exuding from the ears. Hope my answer was helpful for you. I am happy to help any time. Further clarifications and consultations on Health care magic are welcome. If you do not have any clarifications, you can close the discussion and rate the answer. Wish your kid good health.
