What Causes Ear Pain Along The Jaw After Taking Antibiotics?

Hi..I have taken antibiotics for 3 weeks before the dental surgeon extract the infected(fractured bone) root canal ( 6 days ago) surgeon said my infection has eaten up my bone so he only grafted new bone before implant.
The question is if I need to still take a antibiotics, since I have a ear pain along the jaw. They said it is normal to have a pain for two weeks and recommended one more week antibiotics.
Right after extraction I continued my strong antibiotics for 10 days.
So i am sure bacteria is gone and the pain caused by extraction . IS IT REALLY OK TO TAKE ANTIBIOTICS ONE MORE WEEK. Then it will be a month total period of being on the medicine...I am tired of side effects of antibiotics.please give me some advise if natural food such as garlic will help instead of antibiotics.thank you

Hi..
Welcome to Healthcare Magic.

I have gone through your query and can understand your health concerns..

As per your complain pain after extraction is not an abnormal finding and antibiotics are given to prevent any further infection and cure the prevailing infection BUT along with it you need to take painkillers to relieve pain as antibiotics cannot relieve pain..

The other thing is that antibiotics for a week or 1O days is sufficient to cure the infection and i dont think that there is any more of a need of antibiotics and the pain can be due to a few reasons like:

1.Any leftover tooth piece..
2.Dry socket formation due to loss of blood clot which initiates healing of extraction socket..

You should get an x ray done of the extraction socket and get evaluated for the exact cause of the pain and get treated accordingly..

As for now to relieve pain you can take painkillers like Ibuprofen or in case of severe pain Tramadol or Ketorol DT can be taken..

Hope this information helps..
