What Causes Ear Pain And Headache?

Hello, two nights ago I had an ear ache and an occasional sharp pain up the side of my head on the side of the ear ache. The yesterday at work I bent over and liquid cam out of my nose which was very watery and quite yellow. I haven t had a cold or sinus infection lately or suffered any trauma to my head. What is the possible cause of the liquid? Should I be seeing a doctor?

Hi,

As per your query you have symptoms of ear pain and headache which is because of an ear infection which sometimes remain persistent and leads to recurrent otitis media and ear pain. It also seems to me that you have eustachian tube dysfunction as per your symptoms. I would suggest you consult ENT specialist once for proper diagnosis. The doctor may examine by otoscopic to check the level of infection. The doctor may prescribe antibiotics amoxicillin or penicillin at least for 10 days along with decongestant and anti-inflammatory medications. You should do warm saline gargles, take steam twice a day and apply warm dry compresses to the external ear. Taking steam several times a day will also help a lot.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
