What Causes Ear Pain And Nose Bleed While Having Granuloma Around Ear Tube?

My son is 3 years old and his pediatrician just told me last week that he has a granuloma around his ear tube. He got his tubes 2+yrs ago. This week he has really been complaining of it hurting, saying it hurts when I barely touch him near his ear. This morning when he woke up he had dried blood all in his ear from where it bled in the night....this is prob the 2nd or 3rd time we have visible seen blood draining out his ear this summer. And then at school today he had a nose bleed....he has had those quite a bit this summer as well. Could the nose bleeds be related to the scar tissue bleeding in his ear? We have an appt with his ENT for Friday (3 days from now)...should I wait or do you think I need to take him to an urgent care center?

Hello,

Nose bleed may be a different entity (unless confirmed by endoscopy) I think. Most common cause in children is nasal pricking. So avoid nasal pricking. Use nasoclear normal saline spray four times in a day for five days. Apply pressure for ten seconds. Avoid excessive blowing of nose. If no improvement please consult with your ENT specialist he will examine and treat you accordingly.
