What Causes Early Menstrual Bleeding?

My period came one day earlier than it was supposed to my periods normally last 3 days they are very regular and the flow is normal to heavy but this time I got a two day period and the first day was normal flow that tappered off towards end of the day and the second day was spotting and then it was done me and my husband are trying to conceive and I don t know if this means that I could be pregnant or not?
