What Causes Easy Bruising On The Body And Bleeding In The Eyes?

I am taking Plavix 75 mg daily after having a possible TIA back in August(2017). I have noticed that I bruise easier since then, am doing okay for the most part. This evening I glanced in the mirror while brushing my teeth and I have some bleeding in the sclera of my right eye....no discomfort, no vision problem. Do I need to go to the ER and be seen or can I wait and see the doctor in the am? I am a 77 year old woman. Please advise. Thank you. My E-Mail address is YYYY@YYYY

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Plavix (Clopidogrel) is an antiplatelet drug commonly prescribed to prevent blood clots after a recent heart attack or stroke (TIA).

Based on the history you seem to have bleeding apparently caused by Plavix. You are advised to visit the ER immediately for further evaluation and treatment. Your doctor might prescribe an alternate effective but a safer medication or a dose reduction of Plavix.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Mohammed Taher Ali
