Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I had blood drawn from my arm nearly two weeks ago and the bruising was quite pronounced and is still there. I have never bruised like that before when having blood drawn. I seem to bruise quite easily these days (bumping my knee against a chair, for example) and the bruise is generally darker and takes longer to heal. I m wondering if my enhanced susceptibility to bruising is a symptom of something else going on.
Hi, I have read your question and understand your concerns. Thank you for posting in HCM. There could be multiple reasons for easy bruising. However further evaluation is required. Your platelet count will help in narrowing down what could be the cause. You should tell your age, any previous history of recurrent nasal bleeding, any previous history of easy bruising, any history of fever or recurrent sorethroat, any family member having the same problem. I would suggest Complete blood picture for the platelet count. Wish you good health. Do post again in HCM if you have any further questions. Regards.
