What Causes Edema In Ankles And Feet Along With Bad Urine Odour?

Hi, I have edema in my ankles, feet, legs and face as well as a odd smell to my urine. I used to be healthy and fit up with very active physical lifestyle until this past October when I had gained 30 pounds from then until now. Do these symptoms correlate with diabetes or a love dysfunction?

Edema in ankles and feet, legs and face and strange smell of urine make me think about Urinary tract infections or renal problems
Since you have a bad smell of urine it must be any infection in it.
Edemas are caused if you are losing to much proteins through your urine or you have problems with your kidneys.

So to find out more details and information about your health, I would recommend you some simple tests to be done:

- Complete urine count
- Total proteins in your blood and in your urine.
- Creatinine and urea in blood which indicate your kidneys function.

If any infection is found in your urine and other tests result normal, you can take medication at home for the UTI

If there are significant changes in the values in the other test (proteins, creatinine, urea), you should consult a nefrologist.
