What Causes Edema In The Left Leg?

For several weeks, I have had +1 edema in left leg only, in ankle and dorsal foot. Mostly resolves overnight, although have some residual edema even in the morning. I mostly sit at my desk at work for about 10 hours , Mon. through Fri., with intermittent short walks.

Thanks for your question on Healthcare Magic.
I can understand your concern.
Unilateral lower limb edema is commonly seen with deep venous thrombosis (DVT) of lower limb veins.
You are also having history of prolonged sitting. This also put you in high risk for DVT.
So better to consult doctor and get done venous doppler of left lower limb for DVT.
If this suggest DVT then you have to start treatment for DVT (blood thinners, stockings).
If this is normal then no need to worry for DVT.
Sometimes hypoproteinemia can also cause such edema. So get done serum protein level and if deficiency then you will need protein supplements.
Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.
