What Causes Electric Shock Like Sensations In Feet With Pain?

I am 72 years old and in reasonably good health. About 12 years ago my feet started to feel like a crust or dirty socks. This has progress to electrical shock through the top of my feet, tingling and pain. It know has progress to the point of sensations up to and below my knees. The symptoms from my ankle to my knees feel like a charley horse and sometimes numbness.

Hello,

You are having gradual onset numbness with tingling of the feet (pin & needle sensation). This symptom is gradually rising upwards into your legs causing pain & discomfort. It looks like developing peripheral neuropathy.

Peripheral Neuropathy may develop due to diabetes, infection, compromised immunity. You are suggested to visit a Neurologist & get all the tests done.

You ought to get Blood tests, Nerve conduction, Imaging tests (CT, MRI, EEG), Skin & nerve biopsy done.

In the meantime take vitamin B6, B12 along with folic acid & minerals. Your treatment will depend upon the severity of the pathology detected.

Take Acetaminophen (Tylenol) for relieve.
