What Causes Electric Shock Like Short Burst Of Pain From Head?
Hi I am 60 years old and for the last 15 days have been experiencing electric shock like short burst of pain from my right side of the head going all the way down to my feet. It only lasts for 15 seconds and disappears. After that I feel tired and feel little drowsy. After 30 mins, I become normal.
This is very intermittent and happens to me for e.g. alternate or once in 2 or 3 days.
I would like to know if bending over triggers these episodes. Do you have neck pain or arm pain?
If you do not have neck pain and these episodes are not related to bending over, I would recommend performing an EEG and a brain MRI to investigate for seizures. If you experience neck pain and these episodes are triggered by bending over, a cervical spine MRI study may be necessary to investigate for cervical myelopathy. Anyway, a careful neurological exam by a neurologist is necessary to differentiate these two disorders.
Hope you will find this answer helpful! Kind regards, Dr. Aida
