Hi there,

Thanks for your query.

Small/insignificant amount of static current is commonly generated in all persons, due to friction between the skin and clothes. The intensity of this static energy is too less to cause electric shock-like sensations.

However, in some people, particularly those having a dry skin and wearing synthetic fabric, more than normal static energy is generated.

Metals are good conductors of electric current. Hence, people who generate more static current, feel the electric shock-like sensation when they touch a metallic object.

It is not abnormal. Plenty of water and salts intake, keeping the skin moist with body oils, avoidance of clothes made of synthetic fabric will minimize these sensations. NO TREATMENT IS REQUIRED.

If you find my response helpful and informative, do not forget an “excellent” (5-star rating) to my answer, to ENCOURAGE ALL doctors- engaged in social service- to render sound advice to the FREE queries.
