recent blood work showed my AST and ALT very high. Fibrosis result to be 0.55. I have hx: of hyperlipidemia (genetic) since 1980 s and have been on statins since. I have abused alcohol for years. My doctor says i have cirrhoisis....i have a scheduled u/s. I know I have to quit drinking completely. Are there foods I should avoid?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
These are liver enzymes increased in altered liver function test. To control it you have to refrain from taking alcohol and high level of fat in food. Alcohol is very harmful for such condition especially, taking alcohol with less protein and in empty stomach. Should be careful about alcohol abuse, cirrhosis of liver is fatty degeneration. In advance stage it becomes irreversible and avoid all hepatotoxic drink and food.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Ashok Kumar Dash
