What Causes Elevated BP Along With Dizziness And Numbness On The Face?

My sister s bp was 158/110. Before I got there to take it, she experienced numbness on her right side, including her face, and bacame dizzy. Numbness and dizziness cleared up by the time I got there. Doesn t seem like stroke since everything was on the same side.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Your point that everything was on same side wont be a stroke stands true most of the time. But its not always the rule as some strokes can effect the same side as well. The concern is more high as she had dizziness, we don't say and we cant say this a stroke or Transient ischemic attack but this should not be ignored at all. There can be other problem in the brain, so I would advise you should talk to a neurologist to see and assess her in more detail. So that we must be sure before she is declared fit.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
