What Causes Elevated D-Dimer Levels?
Greetings. I just received word that my D-Dimer test from 6/16/17 came back as elevated (5.0). This concerns me as the last time I had a D-Dimer test come back at 2.56 I was told to go straight to the ER for CT scan. It was that scan that found a benign tumor in the left atrium of my heart (Atrial Myxoma). I had surgery on 6/7/17 to remove the Myxoma. Should I now be worried about this even higher D-Dimer or is it just a result of having surgery?

Hi D dimer levels are done to rule out any blood related disorder are present ie bleeding disorders are present
