Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am a 31 year old female. I have been treated for general anxiety for the past three yrs. I recently had a visit with my Dr due to some med changes. She ordered labs and an EKG. All came back fine with the exception of my D- dimer, which came back at 389. With my family history of heart disease and DVTs she felt it best to Oder a CT. That too came back normal. Should I have something to worry about? What could cause the elevation in my D-Dimer?
An elevated d dimer can occur in a number of different settings such as : (1)inflammation from allergies, infection, trauma (2)pregnancy (3)liver or heart disease (4)post surgery (5)high triglycerides cause a false increase
One of these may be the more likely cause of your symptoms and can be assessed based on any symptoms that may be present.
I hope this helps
